RCSI Training Scheme

The RCSI GP Training Scheme offers the exceptional blend of academic excellence, supportive mentorship, and a strong commitment to diversity inclusion and social accountability. Rooted in the proud traditions of RCSI and Irish College of GPs, our scheme fosters the development of skilled, compassionate GPs within a vibrant, welcoming and innovative learning environment. Located in Dublin’s dynamic city centre, our active training team ensures every trainee is known, supported and empowered to thrive both professionally and personally.

Location: Mercers Medical building 1st floor

Days:  Years 1 & 2: 0.5-day Wednesday.

  Years 3 & 4: Full day Wednesday

    General Medicine / Medicine for the Elderly  

    Connolly Hospital, St Colmcille's (Loughlinstown), St Mary’s in the Park, Our Lady of Lourdes, St Vincent’s University Hospital (SVUH), St. Michaels (Dun Laoghaire), Peamount (New from July 2025), St James Hospital (New from July 2025)  

    Psychiatry 

    St Vincent’s University Hospital (SVUH), The Mater Hospital, Tallaght Hospital, Dublin North (Kilbarrack West), St. Vincent’s Fairview, St. John of God’s, Newcastle Hospital.

    Palliative Care

  • We currently have 39 active GP trainers located in both Dublin and just outside in surrounding counties (12 Northside Dublin, 16 Southside Dublin, 11 Outside Dublin).
