"Clinical work is intense, rewarding and at times feels like an all-out sprint. Taking on additional roles allows me to shift gears. It creates space to think, learn and grow. As an Assistant Scheme Director, I’ve gained the opportunity to reflect on practice and actively shape how we train the next generation of GPs. That balance between doing and teaching is essential for delivering high-quality education. The training scheme itself is a dynamic, energising environment. Working with motivated young doctors keeps me sharp, challenges my thinking and pushes me to continuously develop. Alongside this, my role as Clinical Lead for Antimicrobial Resistance and Infection Control with the College has broadened my career as it brings academic and leadership opportunities and opens the door to national policy discussions. I find myself in meetings with key decision-makers, people who genuinely want to understand what’s happening on the ground. It allows me to advocate for GPs and our patients with credibility, through media, including radio, television and print, bringing real clinical experience into conversations that shape the future of healthcare."

"As the Learning Technologies Manager at the Irish College of GPs, I design and implement innovative digital solutions to support on-the-ground teaching and learning for new GPs. The College has created a space where I can make a meaningful, real-world difference by helping to transform and support clinical education and the future healthcare across Ireland through the GP Training Programme. Working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment has provided excellent opportunities for growth, and, alongside a supportive and agile team, has enabled us to deliver and scale results and impact. Based at home in the west of Ireland, the organisation’s flexible hybrid working approach has allowed me to drive national change while maintaining a sustainable work–life balance."
