Supporting GPs at every stage of their career

The countdown is on to this year’s Irish College of GPs Annual Conference, taking place on Saturday, 25 April. The day will provide GPs the opportunity to engage with important topics relevant to practicing today through a range of clinically focused presentations. The College is also thrilled to welcome two outstanding keynote speakers - Prof Ian Robertson and Dr Mike Ryan.

Irish College of GPs’ first new GP Leadership Academy, with a Programme called ‘Empowering GPs: Leadership for the Future’, concludes this week. GPs found it immensely valuable in developing leadership skills and expertise to drive change and shape the future of primary care in Ireland

The New Trainers Course occurred on 26 March 2026 in Salthill, welcoming a record 101 new trainers, highlighting the responsibility of GP training. The event, led by Dr Cathy Cullen, featured various key speakers discussing trainee support and preparation for exams. This event aligns with the increased intake of trainees to 350 in July 2024 and precedes a second workshop planned for the upcoming months. Additionally, the National Trainers Conference attracted 302 trainers for a comprehensive two-day program, including art workshops and a keynote on AI, concluding with enthusiasm for future gatherings.
