On Friday, 5 June, the Irish College of GPs hosted its Annual President’s Dinner at St Stephen’s Green, Dublin. The event brought together colleagues, honoured guests and College Leadership for an evening of celebration and recognition.
We were thrilled to welcome Dr Velma Harkins, new President, Dr Nuala O’Connor, Immediate Past President, Dr Knut Moe, New College Chair of the Board, and other incoming and outgoing board members.
Mr Fintan Foy, CEO, welcomed guests to the President’s Dinner in honour of the Past Presidents and Chairs, and this was followed by a short address by Dr Moe.
Dr Seán Owens wins the Gradam Award 2026
Following the dinner, the College presented the prestigious Gradam Award, one of its highest honours. Dr O’Connor, Immediate Past President, presented the award to Dr Seán Owens. Assistant Clinical Professor Andrée Rochfort, College Director Quality Improvement & Doctors’ Health Programme, delivered the citation, sharing Dr Owens’ important achievements with the audience.
The Irish College of GPs extends its warmest congratulations to Dr Seán Owens on this well-deserved award, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to general practice.
Presidential Address
To close the evening presentations, Dr Harkins spoke of the achievements of the College and the challenges ahead, thanked Dr O’Connor, Immediate Past President and the College Board.
