Dr Nuala O’Connor, President of the Irish College of GPs, said:
“Over the past year, I have had the privilege of meeting many colleagues across the profession, but the moments that have meant most were welcoming new members into the College. These occasions are a powerful reminder of the strength of our membership and the bright future of general practice.”

Dr Deirdre Collins, Chair of the Board of the Irish College of GPs, said:
“The past year has been one of consolidation, transition, and progress. While the pressures on general practice remain significant, the College has continued to respond with clarity of purpose, supporting our members, advocating for the discipline, and strengthening the structures that sustain general practice into the future.”

Among the highlights of the 2025 Annual Report are:

  • 4,600 GP members, reflecting continued growth in the College’s membership base
  • 1,300 GP trainees and 350 new training places were introduced in 2025
