IMG Rural GP Programme Welcomes 11 New International Medical Graduate GPs

The Irish College of GPs' IMG Rural GP Programme team welcomed 11 new International Medical Graduate (IMG) GPs to its induction last week.

The induction programme marks the beginning of a two-year supported learning journey designed to help experienced international GPs who have come to Ireland to integrate into rural Irish general practice. Participants were introduced to key aspects of working within the Irish healthcare system and had the opportunity to meet fellow doctors and members of the programme team.

The IMG Rural GP Programme plays an important role in contributing to communities that need GP services and in supporting rural general practice in Ireland by helping experienced international doctors develop their careers while contributing to communities that need GP services. The programme combines supervised practice, educational supports and clinical mentorship to help participants succeed in Irish general practice.

Participants in the induction programme were introduced to key aspects of working within the Irish healthcare system and had the opportunity to meet fellow doctors and members of the team.

We extend a warm welcome to this new cohort and wish them every success in the years ahead.
