The Irish College of GPs has been awarded the Investors in Diversity (IiD) Gold accreditation from the Irish Centre for Diversity - a highly prestigious recognition of our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
The College is the first education institution in Ireland to receive IiD Gold accreditation, recognising its work to support staff and members in creating an inclusive culture where everyone feels valued, respected and supported.
It also strengthens our position as a leading training body and an employer of choice, committed to fostering diversity across our community.
While we have come a long way in our EDI journey, we recognise there is still more to achieve. We remain committed to embedding our WIDE values – Wellbeing, Inclusion, Diversity and Equity – across the College and in all that we do.
The College CEO, Fintan Foy, stated that "This Gold accreditation is an important recognition of the work undertaken across the College to foster a culture of inclusion, respect and belonging. Being the first education institution in Ireland to achieve this standard is a tremendous honour and reflects our commitment to living our WIDE values every day. We are proud of the progress we have made, but equally conscious that there is always more to do as we continue to build a diverse and inclusive College for our staff, trainees and members and the communities they serve."
We are now one of just 43 organisations nationwide to hold the highest level of Ireland’s premier D&I accreditation. We will continue to build on this progress as we strive towards even higher standards of inclusion and equity.
